What Is a Monotype?

A monotype is a single print created from a painted or inked surface, usually glass or metal. Ink is laid down, paper is pressed into it, and when the paper lifts, whatever remains is the image.
These prints are one-of-a-kind. They often reveal textures, traces, or small accidents that become the starting point for a world or story.

Many works in my Orientations series, including Winter Field, come from these moments of ink meeting surface and revealing something unexpected.
